These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Chapters, including the Chapters mobile application and related websites and services (“Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Using Chapters

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. You may use Chapters only in compliance with applicable laws and these Terms.

2. Your content

You retain ownership of the photos, writing, recordings, and other content you submit to Chapters (“Your Content”).

You grant Chapters the limited rights necessary to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display, and otherwise provide Your Content as part of the Service and the features you request. This permission ends when the relevant content is deleted, except to the extent retention is required for legal, security, backup, or legitimate operational purposes.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to upload and share Your Content and that doing so does not violate another person's rights or applicable law.

3. Sharing and collaboration

Some features allow you to share chapters or invite other people to contribute. You are responsible for choosing what you share and with whom.

4. Prohibited use

• break the law or facilitate unlawful activity;
• infringe intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
• upload malicious code or attempt to compromise the Service;
• interfere with the Service or access it through unauthorized means;
• impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation; or
• use the Service in a way that could reasonably harm Chapters, its users, or others.

5. Availability and changes

We work to keep Chapters available and reliable, but the Service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, updates, outages, or circumstances outside our control. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features.

6. Third-party services

Chapters may rely on third-party services and integrations. Their availability and terms may be outside our control, and your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and policies.

7. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your Chapters account through our account deletion page. Deleting an account may permanently remove associated chapters, photos, writing, recordings, and other account data, subject to limited retention where required for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, or record-keeping purposes.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, and other materials supplied by Chapters, is owned by Chapters or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the Service itself.

9. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided on an “as available” and “as is” basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Chapters will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Service.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
